Getting Your White Card in Victoria

4 min read

WorkSafe Victoria Regulations

In Victoria, the construction industry is strictly regulated by WorkSafe Victoria. The authority requires all construction workers to hold a valid construction induction card (White Card) before entering a worksite. Unlike some states that have relaxed online training rules, Victoria has stringent requirements regarding how this training is delivered.

Face-to-Face Training Requirement

WorkSafe Victoria generally mandates that the CPCWHS1001 unit be completed face-to-face. While temporary exemptions were made in the past (such as during the pandemic), the current standard requires in-person assessment. This ensures that learners can physically demonstrate the correct fitting of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and verbally confirm their understanding of site safety protocols in a controlled environment.

The Assessment Process

During your 6-hour training session in Victoria, you will undergo both written and practical assessments. The practical component involves demonstrating hazard identification and correctly fitting equipment like hard hats, high-vis vests, ear protection, and eye protection.
