Welcome to Allens Training. This handbook is your guide to understanding your rights and responsibilities while studying with us. It will help you make informed decisions and access the support you need.

Introduction & Provider Details

Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO NO: 90909) is a well-respected Registered Training Organisation registered with the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). We empower students to acquire the knowledge and skills directly applicable to their chosen industry.

Allens Training maintains strong governance to ensure compliance with the VET Quality Framework, Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), and national guidelines set by ASQA. This guarantees that your training meets regulated standards.

Governance and Legislation

We operate in strict accordance with the law, including:

  • Work Health and Safety Act 2011
  • Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
  • Anti-Discrimination Acts (Disability, Age, Sex, Racial)
  • National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011

Student Code of Conduct

We value cooperation and mutual respect in our training services. Here are some basic guidelines:

  • Work Safely: Follow workplace health and safety rules.
  • Show Respect: Treat fellow students and staff with kindness and fairness. No discrimination.
  • Classroom Etiquette: Avoid swearing, drinking, and eating in classrooms. Maintain focus.
  • Zero Tolerance: No alcohol, smoking, gum, drugs, or weapons are allowed in the training area.
  • Honesty: Complete assessments honestly. Plagiarism and cheating are strictly prohibited.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Allens Training enforces zero tolerance for harassment, sexual harassment, bullying, discrimination, emotional harm, and psychological mistreatment. Any violations will result in immediate action, which may include expulsion from the course without a refund.

  • Provide accurate enrolment information and proof of identity.
  • Pay all course fees on time.

Enrolment & Fees

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

Every student is required to provide a verified USI before we can issue any certification. Your USI account will contain all your nationally recognised training records and results.

Course Fees and Refunds

Course fees are all-inclusive (tuition, support, workbooks, facilities). We do not accept more than $1,500 in advance from individual students. No Statement of Attainment will be issued until full payment is received.

  • Cancellations: Written notice is required within the specified timeframe to be eligible for a refund or transfer.
  • No Refunds: Refunds are not issued for late cancellations, non-attendance, change of mind, or student misconduct.
  • Guarantee of Training: If we cancel or reschedule a course, students are offered a full refund or a chance to reschedule without penalty.

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)

Ensuring the safety of our staff and students is our top priority. As a student, you are responsible for completing your training safely and reporting any injuries immediately.

  • First Aid: In an emergency, our trainers or First Aid Officers will administer aid, and an Incident Form must be completed.
  • Manual Handling: Never attempt to lift anything beyond your capacity. Always bend the knees and keep the back straight.
  • Fire Safety: Evacuation procedures will be explained during your course induction.

Confidentiality & Privacy

We strictly adhere to the Privacy Act of 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We will collect only necessary information and take reasonable steps to protect your data from misuse and unauthorised access.

NCVER Privacy Notice

As an RTO, we are required by law to disclose your personal information to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). This information is used for research, statistics, and administration of VET programs.

All course paperwork is scanned into our Training Desk database and stored securely for the legislated period (up to 30 years depending on the completion date).

Complaints and Appeals

We view feedback from dissatisfied parties as an opportunity to improve. Our policy ensures grievances are handled confidentially, promptly, fairly, and transparently.

  • Complaints: Can be submitted via email or post to the General Manager of Regulatory Compliance. We aim to resolve all complaints within 30 calendar days.
  • Appeals: If you are unhappy with an assessment decision, you must submit a written appeal within 28 days of being notified of the decision.
  • Independent Review: If unsatisfied with our internal process, you have the right to request a review by an independent external body.

Training & Assessment Information

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) & Credit Transfer

We recognise prior learning and formal qualifications issued by other Australian RTOs. If you have relevant work experience or previous training, you may apply for RPL or Credit Transfer to reduce your study time.

Assessment Processes

All assessments adhere to the Principles of Assessment (Fairness, Flexibility, Validity, Reliability) and Rules of Evidence (Validity, Sufficiency, Authenticity, Currency).

  • Academic Integrity: You must submit original work. Plagiarism and unauthorized use of AI tools are strictly prohibited.
  • Re-assessment: If deemed 'Not Yet Satisfactory', students are allowed two further attempts without additional fees.
  • Certification: Statements of Attainment or Qualifications are issued within 30 days of successfully completing all requirements and paying all fees.

Student Wellbeing & Support

Balancing study with life commitments can be challenging. We offer support services to ensure your wellbeing.

  • Mental Health Support: Contact our team or external services like Lifeline (13 11 14) or Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636) if you feel overwhelmed.
  • LLND Support: We offer assistance and reasonable adjustments for students with Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital literacy needs.
  • Reasonable Adjustment: Accommodations (e.g., extra time, oral assessments) can be made for students with disabilities to ensure an equal opportunity to demonstrate competence.

Under 18 Students

We follow the 10 National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. We mandate strict confidentiality, empower students to report concerns, and require all relevant trainers to hold a Working with Children Check (WWCC).
