Required PPE for White Card Training

3 min read

Practical Assessment Requirements

A core component of the CPCWHS1001 unit is demonstrating that you can correctly select, fit, and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). During your face-to-face training session, your instructor will evaluate your ability to correctly wear four specific items: a hard hat, high-visibility clothing, eye protection, and hearing protection.

Do I Need to Bring My Own?

Reputable training providers will supply the necessary PPE for the duration of the practical assessment in the classroom. However, it is a strict requirement that you attend the course wearing enclosed footwear (preferably steel-capped boots if you have them, though standard enclosed shoes are usually acceptable for the classroom environment).

Site Ready Expectations

The PPE you use in the classroom represents the absolute minimum requirement for stepping onto a real construction site. Once you have your White Card, your employer or site manager will dictate specific PPE policies, which may additionally include gloves, long-sleeved high-vis shirts, sun protection, and respiratory masks depending on the hazards present.
