Minimum Age Requirements for a White Card
The Standard Minimum Age
In most Australian states, including Victoria, the minimum age to undertake White Card (CPCWHS1001) training is 14 years old. This aligns with the minimum age for taking on part-time employment and participating in vocational education programs.
High School Students and Apprenticeships
Many students obtain their White Card while still in high school, particularly if they are enrolled in a VET (Vocational Education and Training) in Schools program or are pursuing a school-based apprenticeship in a trade. Having a White Card early is highly beneficial for students seeking work experience on construction sites.
Parental Consent
If the applicant is under the age of 18, they will generally require a parent or legal guardian to sign a consent form before the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) can finalize their enrolment. Furthermore, the 100 points of ID requirement still applies to minors, which usually involves presenting a Birth Certificate and a Student ID card.
